Sam Hobbs

Sam Hobbs...

After finished her A levels, Sam headed off to spend her gap year training with Jeanette Brakewell and never did get to university!

Sam lived and learned about the sport of eventing at Jeanette's, and helped to break young horses, competed her own, helped to keep horses fit and groomed at Burghley and Badminton.

Sam's next big break came when she was offered the job of stable jockey for the Preci Spark event team, where she enjoyed seven seasons producing youngsters and competing at advanced level before setting up her own business to produce owners' horses as well as her own.

Sam trains all levels of riders and horses and we are delighted that Sam has agreed to be one of our showjumping, cross country, arena eventing and Camp23 trainers. Please contact Sue McGrath if you would like to join Sam's clinics.

Ben McClumpha

Ben McClumpha...

Ben is an accomplished equestrian professional that has successfully competed across multiple disciplines within the sport, working for, and training with, some of the world’s best equestrians.

Having been brought up through the Riding Club (Misterton & District) and Pony Club system (Atherstone) achieving his A Test, Ben started his career in showjumping competing in 1.30m classes before changing to eventing, in which he produced and competed multiple horses at 4* level both at home and abroad.  In latter years Ben concentrated on the pure dressage sphere, competing at International Small Tour level.  He now has one horse of his own that he has quietly produced from a youngster who is currently competing at Inter1 and will be aimed at Grand Prix next year.

Ben now focuses  more on coaching, passing on his wealth of knowledge and a unique skill set that has allowed him to diversify into successfully training a variety of levels of horses and students and is a fully insured BHS Accredited Professional Coach.

Horse development concentrates on improving the way of going. I believe building confidence and self-belief in both horse and rider is essential as this enables progress and achievement both within and between sessions.

Using this approach allows goals to become achievable - I love seeing partnerships achieve their goals!."
